Cardiovascular Registered Nurse-
Board Certified
I have spent a large portion of my nursing career in the area of Cardiology. I decided this year to challenge myself and test my knowledge. I took a two day review course and sat for the Cardiovascular Registered Nurse Board Certification (CVRN-BC) and passed! The CVRN consists of multiple Levels of expertise with Level I being the beginning. The CVRN Level I Cardiovascular Nursing Board Certification Exam was developed specifically for nurses working in non-acute care cardiology areas such as telemetry and progressive care units, cath lab holding areas, emergency department chest pain centers, cardiac rehabilitation units, and office based private practice cardiac nurses. CVRN Level II Exams were developed for CCU and Catheterization or Interventional Labs. Nurses in these acute care areas are required to sit for CVRN Level I in order to be able to sit for their CVRN Level II Exams. Now that I have board certification in Level I, I plan to begin preparing for CVRN Level II to take the exam next spring.
