Committees
Being a part of a committee is such an essential part of what makes MS PCU "my unit" and UCH "my hospital". As I became involved in various committees it helped me see how much more my unit and the hospital have to offer me and my career. My voice DOES matter and my opinion IS valued here at UCH.
I have been a member of Quality Safety Advocates (QSA) since March 2014 in which I monitor all of the Safety Intelligence (SI's) that come to my unit. Being a part of QSA has opened my eyes to a much bigger picture of what goes on not only on the MS PCU, but in many other departments throughout the hospital. It allows me to make an impact on my patients satisfaction and safety during their stay at UCH.
As a charge nurse, I am also an active member on the Charge Nurse Leadership Council. This committee meets every second Monday of the month, with a Critical Care charge nurse meeting every other month the same day. This allows charge nurses to all gather together and discuss what is evolving from the leadership perspective.
I am also on the newly formed Employee Advisory Group (EAG) that began in March 2014. I was honored to be asked to represent my unit. This group meets approximately every other month and is made up of front-line staff who are supportive of the organization, unofficial leaders, respected by their co-workers, and willing to offer honest and constructive feedback. My feedback is requested for program ideas, benefit plan design changes and various hospital initiatives. I'm excited to see what this group brings to UCH in the future.
