A Laboratory Sub-Committee Task-force with the help of the Quality Safety Advocates (QSA) was formed that headed the Labeling Campaign initiative at UCH. This took a leap on June 1st with a friendly competition that will run through the months of June, July, and August. The unit that has the least amount of specimen errors (by volume) will win a pizza party that will be sponsored by the Quality Safety Advocates. Tyler, writer and editor for the Insider compiled an article on July 8th, 2014 about the specimen errors and the involvement that MS PCU had on the decision to implement the "Orange Cards" for extra labels that went into effect on August 1st, 2014. With the write-up, education being completed on the units, and repetition of using the orange cards, the will no doubt be a decrease in the amount of specimen errors that occur on MS PCU and throughout the hospital, both inpatient and outpatient settings.
