Preceptor
As a UCH Travel Nurse from November 2012 - November 2013, I was precepting new nurses and new graduate nurses during this time. During the months of September - December 2013, I did a large amount of precepting on the unit. As a permanent charge nurse on the MS PCU, I train new relief charges as well. Unfortunately, there were no evaluations that were turned in for my role as preceptor, due to my being in travel nurse status at that time. I completed the Preceptor Development & Competency Course in February 2014.
Precepting has always been very beneficial for myself as well as the individual that I am training. I have always be a firm believer in "learn one, do one, teach one". In any circumstances in nurses, we learn as we do. By educating others, I feel myself grow as an individual and have a good feeling of being able to be a mentor to someone else and assist them in growing in their careers in nursing.
