Pre-Initiative Data Analysis
I gathered the number of specimen errors that occurred and were reported by the clinical laboratory by way of Safety Intelligence (SI) beginning in June 2013. This is when the MS PCU had their first full month as a new unit. Their showed a significant large amount of errors in the month of June, which may have been partially due to the large number of new employees on MS PCU and a learning curve that is often needed when beginning a new job. I was happy see a noticeable decrease in the number of errors in the month of July, but in August, the number increased again. It was an up and down struggle through these months prior to the implantation of the trial initiative.
